Take notice that the Town Board of the Town of Esopus will hold a public hearing at the town hall, located at 1 Town Hall Way, Ulster Park, New York, on September 17, 2026, at 5 PM, on a proposed Local Law #1 of the year 2026 to override the tax limit established in General Municipal Law 3-c. New York State has imposed a 2% tax limit for municipalities. A local law to override the limit on the amount of real property tax that may be levied by the Town of Esopus pursuant to General Municipal Law 3-c, and to allow the Town of Esopus to adopt a budget for the fiscal year of 2027 that requires a real property tax levy in excess of the “tax levy limit” as defined by General Municipal Law 3–c. This local law is adopted pursuant to subdivision 5 of the General Municipal Law 3–c, which expressly authorizes the Town Board to override the tax levy limit by the adoption of a local law approved by a vote of 60% of the Town Board. Take further notice that the copies of that aforesaid local law will be available for examination on the town website, www.esopus.gov, and in the office of the Clerk of the Town of Esopus at 1 Town Hall Way, Ulster Park, between the hours of 9 AM and 4 PM on all business days between the date of this notice and the date of the public hearing. Take further notice that all persons interested shall have an opportunity to be heard on the proposal at the time and place aforesaid.
