ESOPUS, NY — The Town of Esopus will hold its annual Independence Day observance at 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 4, at the Veterans Memorial in front of Esopus Town Hall, 1 Town Hall Way, Ulster Park, NY 12487. The event is free and open to the public.
The ceremony will honor the nation’s founding and recognize the service and sacrifice of local veterans. The program will feature an honor guard from American Legion Post 1298, with the presentation of the colors and the playing of taps by post members.
Rev. Brian Steadman of the Reformed Church of Port Ewen will offer both the opening and closing prayers. Esopus Town Supervisor Roscoe Percora will deliver the keynote address, followed by remarks from Post Commander Kirk Reinhardt.
A wreath-laying ceremony will take place in tribute to the men and women from the Town of Esopus who have served the United States in uniform.
Residents and visitors are invited to attend and join the community in commemorating Independence Day and honoring those who have defended the nation’s freedoms.
